Setting a goal

Updated 2025-06-01

What are goals?

Goals let you track a specific metric over time — for example, "Reach £10,000 MRR by December" or "Hit 100 orders per day by Q3". Briefly surfaces your goal progress in every brief so you never lose sight of the target.

Creating a goal

  1. Go to Settings → Memory or use the Goals section in your dashboard sidebar.
  2. Click Add goal.
  3. Describe the goal: the metric, target value, unit, source, and deadline.
  4. Save — Briefly will start tracking it in future briefs.

Updating progress

Progress is updated automatically when each brief runs. You do not need to enter numbers manually — Briefly reads the current value from your connected source and computes how close you are.

Editing or deleting a goal

Open Settings → Memory, find the goal, and click Delete. To change the target or deadline, delete and re-add the goal.

How goals appear in briefs

Each goal shows as a progress line: £7,240 / £10,000 MRR — 72% · 45 days left. If you are ahead of pace, Briefly notes that too.
