Reconnecting a data source

Updated 2025-06-01

When to reconnect

If a connection shows Error or Expired in Settings → Connections, the OAuth token has been revoked or expired and needs to be re-authorised.

How to reconnect

  1. Go to Settings → Connections.
  2. Click the connection showing the error.
  3. Click Disconnect.
  4. Click Connect again and complete the OAuth flow for that provider.

After reconnecting, the source will be available for your next brief run.

Why do tokens expire?

OAuth tokens can expire or be revoked when:

  • You changed your password on the source platform.
  • You revoked Briefly's access from the platform's settings.
  • The token reached its maximum lifetime (some platforms limit this to 30–90 days).

Preventing future errors

For Gmail, make sure two-factor authentication is enabled — Google sometimes revokes access to apps connected to accounts without 2FA.

For Notion, don't change your workspace permissions without re-checking that Briefly still has access to the relevant databases.
